【Microwave cooked Inari (seasoned fried tofu) sushi】
Today we are going to introduce cooking inari sushi, recommended by a Japanese nutritionist as a healthy Japanese food to take into your diet :)
Inari Sushi sure is a dish that will be loved by both children and adults, the isoflavone and lecithin are major nutrients of tofu that help maintain healthy bones and metabolism.
By using a microwave, you can cut cooking time and still enjoy a delicious sushi experience!
Recipe: Inari Sushi
■ Ingredients(for 6 pieces)
- 3 sheets of fried tofu
- soy sauce…1 tablespoon
- mirin…1 tablespoon
- sugar…1 tablespoon
- vinegar…1 teaspoon
- water…50 ml
Vinegared rice
- rice…300g
- vinegar…2 tablespoons
- sugar…1 teaspoon
- salt…½ teaspoon
■How to make
- put all the condiments in a heat-resistant container, and cook in the microwave for a minute in 600W.
- Pour hot water on the fried tofu to remove excess oil, and for the seasonings to blend in well. Cut the fried tofu in half.
- Put the fried tofu in①, and press gently for the condiments to mix into the fried tofu. Cook in the microwave in 600W for 2 minutes.
- Take it out of the microwave, and flip the fried tofu upside down for the other side to suck in the condiments better. Leave them to cool off.
- Make the vinegared rice. Take steam rice and mix it with vinegar, sugar, and salt.
- Stuff the vinegared rice inside the fried tofu, and roll it to make it into sushi.
■Key Points
- The vinegared rice is what you could put more ingredients of preference!
- Typical ones are jako small dried sardines, sliced ginger, white sesame, shiso, umeboshi, or yuzu.
- If you’ve been to Japan before, you might’ve visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine.
You’d see foxes as guardians of the shrine, and those foxes love inari or this fried tofu.
Well, not only foxes but we love them, too!
