Recipe: Microwave cooked kinpira gobo

 











Kinpira gobo(金平ごぼう)is a typical mom's dish in Japan. It's one of the most well-known fukusai(副菜)or side vegetable dish to have in a Japanese meal.

With simple seasonings, anyone would be able to cook the dish! And we will share the simplest recipe using the microwave!

How to make kinpira with a microwave

    Ingredients

    • burdock...1/4
    • carrots...1/8
    • water...1 spoon
    • soy sauce...1/2 spoon
    • sugar...1 teaspoon
    • powder dashi...1/4 teaspoon
    • sesame oil...1 teaspoon
    • white sesame...preferred amount

    Instructions

    1. Thinly cut the burdock and carrots like the picture.
    2. Put1. in a heat-resistant container and put wrap. Microwave for 3.5 minutes in 500W. 
    3. Add the sesame oil and white sesame and stir.
    4. Serve on a plate or bowl!

    Key Points

    • Burdock and carrots are very good source of fibre and vitamins. 
    • Carrot's vitamin A is absorbed to the body better when cooked with oil. Have healthy oil of your choice slightly coated to the carrots before microwave for best health results!
    • Those having constepation, skin problems, fatigues, stomatitis, may experience improvement eating it regularly.
    • Kinpira may be kept up to 3 days in the fridge, and 1 month in the freezer.
