What I got out of one year blogging in 2023
It’s almost been a year since I started blogging. It was an interesting and valuable experience and I want to share how it was and what I got out of it.
It helps me manage ADHD better
I used to have so many things cluttered in my head. I couldn’t make decisions and ended up not doing anything.
But when I write it gives me a topic to focus on.
I was overthinking to live life to the fullest.
Having an end in mind is very important, but living now is also important.
If I were to write, I should just start writing. It sure is a little messy but the constant repeat of writing something and getting it done enabled clearance and confidence on what I should do now.
You never know what you’re going to get.
I plan to make the blog a long term thing so the first thing I focused on was to post at least one a week.
I won’t be able to manage everything if I start promoting on social media, and analyzing keywords and trying to make the blog popular and monetizable.
I wasn’t even sure what topic or niche this blog was going to cater to.
But you need to start somewhere. I decided to just write whatever pops to mind and continue for awhile.
I was posting recipes in the beginning, but later changed to writing about what I felt during my trips in South East Asia. These two posts had a lot of views compared to other posts.
I was really happy to know that my experiences and how I felt interests some people on the internet. The two posts attracted the most views from France, which was another surprise.
I loved staying in France, especially the passion and respect the French people put in food culture, and I want to spend as much time as possible to learn more. I hope I get to make some friends from this website.
This post attracted a lot of views from Israel. It’s really interesting.
I want to continue this topic on sharing what I learned from the places I travel to. I’m back in Japan for now, so I would like to share about Hokkaido, Mt Fuji, Kyoto and Nara, Kanazawa, and Kyushu.
Writing helped me narrow down my niche
I wrote different topics and learned that it’s more sustainable to write about the things I care about.
It’s also a lot easier to write about what questions I had, and how it was solved.
So, what do I google to death about?
I seem to google a lot about nutrition to stay healthy, stress management, investments, football and my next foodie destinations.
By writing my question and answer on a blog, I remember better.
Hopefully, it helps other people that will have the same questions like me.
The topics this blog will mainly cover
Mindfulness and food education are topics I want to focus on.
I’ve been reading mindfulness or zen books to be more precise, in Japanese lately. I’m very fascinated by what I read, and I see a lot of wisdom behind it. By knowing the teachings of zen, it helps myself to be mindful.
I look forward to sharing what I learned from the zen books from now onwards.
Food education is what I care a lot about. I will never give up searching for the best flavors of world cuisine, but I also have to manage my health.
So what are some things that are sustainable to enjoy flavors while I manage health?
I hope my trial and error helps and inspires some people, and I get to start food education events starting at Bali, Indonesia.
What I got out of my first year blogging
It helped me to know myself better, manage my ADHD better, keep track of what I learned, and helped me to narrow down what my next niche will be.
Everybody needs money and it’s great if you could make money out of blogging.
But I think being helpful is the priority, and it’s logical to blog if it’s already giving me so much benefits I listed above.
I look forward to sharing my work and meeting new friends as I go.
