9 Aug~8 Sep weather forecast of Fukuoka and Karatsu.
We all see heavy rain flooding the rivers and sometimes cars being swept away.
Winters tend to be warmer, but summers have this tropical climate with natural disasters and humid, sticky temperatures.
But having lived in Karatsu, northwest of Kyushu Prefecture, it isn't necessary true.
It all depends on which part of Kyushu I'm in.
Today I want to summarize the 1 month weather forecast of North Kyushu including Fukuoka and Karatsu from 9th Aug, 2025.
7th of August was the "Start of Fall."(立秋)
We take it as the peak of the hot season of Japan. It is actually the hottest timing, but we historically know that autumn breeze flow into the cities.
This year 2025, it was clear sunny skies every single day, probably July.
But interestingly, after the Risshu, it's been raining a lot.
Temperatures are a lot lower, but the humidity from the rain makes it unpleasant. It's still very hot and uneasy for activities in the city or urban areas.
It's good to take on indoor activities or go inside nature for nature activities or onsen.
1 month Weather Forecast for Northern Kyushu (including Yamaguchi Prefecture)
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the weather forecast for August 9 to September 8 of Northern Kyushu including Fukuoka, Karatsu, and Yamaguchi (prefecture at the western tip of the mainland, Honshu) is as follows:
The forecast indicates that warm air will continue to cover the region for the next month thus resulting in the temperatures to be **higher** than usual.
Due to the influence of low pressure systems and moist air at the beginning of the period, the total **precipitation** for the next month is expected to be **average to high**.
While there will be fewer sunny days at the beginning of the period (during the Obon holiday), the Pacific High will likely strengthen afterward, resulting in **average to high hours of sunlight** for the month.
Summary of the Next Month's Weather
- Average Temperature:Expected to be **high**
- Precipitation: Expected to be **average or above**.
- Sunshine Hours: Expected to be **average or above**.
This forecast suggests that while the Obon period(9th~16th August)may have more rainfall due to low pressure systems, the weather will clear up afterward, leading to an increase in sunny days and overall higher-than-average sunshine hours for the month.
Be very careful in South Kyushu
Come join me on the journey at Karatsu.
I moved into Karatsu on March, 2025 from the variety of fish it has.
But I want to try to work with the local businesses and the government to show you hints of the samurai town.
It has great traditional content that is interesting, but it's still hidden.
It will be my pleasure to show you the charms of the samurai city as an experience that we all can learn from to better our lives.
