Northern Kyushu will be hotter than usual in September, 2025.

Based on the forecast from According to the Japan Meteorological Agency,   I summarized the 1 month weather forecast of North Kyushu including Fukuoka and Karatsu!

1 month Weather Forecast for Northern Kyushu (including Yamaguchi Prefecture)

The weather forecast for September 2025 will be higher than usual. Northern Kyushu including Fukuoka, Karatsu, and Yamaguchi (prefecture at the western tip of the mainland, Honshu) is as follows:

Key Forecast Points

The region has been covered by warm air since mid-June, leading to a long period of high temperatures. This trend is expected to continue for the next month, with temperatures remaining high. The first half of the period is likely to see especially high temperatures.

Due to a high-pressure system, sunshine hours for the next month are expected to be average to above average.

Weather Outlook for September 2025

The weather will change in cycles of a few days. However, sunny days are expected to be more frequent than usual, especially during the second half of the period.

Averages for the Next Month

  • Average Temperature: A strong likelihood of being above average (80% probability).
  • Precipitation: Expected to be nearly average (40% probability).
  • Sunshine Hours: Expected to be average or above (40% probability).

Weekly Outlook

Week 1 (Sep 1 - Sep 5):

There will be fewer sunny days as the region is affected by moist air. Temperatures are expected to be high.

Weeks 2-4 (Sep 6 - Sep 26):

The weather will change in cycles, but due to a high-pressure system, sunny days are expected to be more frequent than usual. Temperatures are also expected to remain high during this period.

What should I dress?

A t-shirt, shorts, and sandals or sneakers are best.

There are chances of rain so having a rain jacket in your backpack or a portable umbrella in your backpack will be handy.

If I were you, I would come to Japan with the least amount of clothing and shop here. Major airports of Japan will most likely have Uniqlo or Muji that will have the clothing the suits the current weather of Japan at the time.

The quality is amazing for the price and will become a good souvenir for you back home.

If you come across a clothing shop Workman, that also might be the next Uniqlo.

It started as a clothing shop for people who work in blue collar industries, which focuses more on quality. But they started to cater to fashionable ladies especially, and it has become widely used by many people in Japan.

You'll find waterproof jackets, pants, and shoes that are great value compared to other companies. I'm not a fashion person so my clothings are mainly from here.

Drink Pokari Sweat or Aquarius

Japan is very hot and humid at the same time, so you'll sweat more than usual. When you lose salt and minerals from sweating, you will feel sluggishness and can result to heatstroke.

So carry a 500ml bottle of Pokari Sweat or Aquarius that you can easily find in convenience stores, drug stores, and supermarkets and take it sip by sip.

Water and mugicha or barley tea are both popular drinks for the health conscious, but they don't contain the salt and minerals you'll need to cope with the humid weather here.

Pokari Sweat has been our sports drink for a long time, but it has quite a bit of sugar. So take sip by sip along with water or mugicha.

Salt candies are on market to prevent heatstroke as well, so that might be a good choice, too.

These should keep you in better shape throughout your trip here.

Summary:

  • Average Temperature: Expected to be **high**
  • Precipitation: Expected to be **average or above**
  • Sunshine Hours: Expected to be **average or above**
  • Buy clothing from airports in Japan or Workman
  • Take pokari sweat, aquarius, or salt candies to prevent heatstroke

Be very careful in South Kyushu

One last thing. While north Kyushu along the ocean has relatively less rainfall due to the mountains blocking monsoon air flowing north, South Kyushu tend to experience lots of rainfall.

I will try to cover what you need to know about the typical weather in Kyushu and when the best seasons to visit are. But while I prepare that, do check the weather forecast from our Meteorological Agency (気象庁)before planning your trip to Kyushu to avoid unnecessary stress whilst your travel.

(Their forecast is quite accurate and trustworthy)

Hope the information helped, and have a great trip in Kyushu!

Come join me on the journey at Karatsu.

I moved into Karatsu on March, 2025 from the variety of fish it has.

But I want to try to work with the local businesses and the government to show you hints of the samurai town.

It has great traditional content that is interesting, but it's still hidden.

It will be my pleasure to show you the charms of the samurai city as an experience that we all can learn from to better our lives.

Thanks for Reading!

Follow me on my journey discovering the best fish dishes of Japan. I will open a fish laboratory in my akiya abandoned house I'm going to live soon.

I would love to connect with people interested in fishes, cooking, and Japanese food. Share me your interests, and let's hang out!

This will be my long game, and I look forward to sharing what happens.
